Our PhD student Kristína Macáková, together with the scientific team at Harvard, published an article dealing with whether neutrophils can prevent the development of nosocomial pneumonia after severe trauma. They found that they do not respond to emerging secondary infections, so the progression of bacterial growth in the lungs and nosocomial pneumonia is possible.
